The Neolithic sites in Cornwall, including the prehistoric field boundaries at Bodmin Moor, have attracted me since childhood. I have always been fascinated by these Noguchi-like structures because they most effectively locate themselves between the natural and the man-made. The stone circles of Bodmin Moor date back to 2000 BC during the Bronze Age. This is a site of many natural geologic formations which blend seamlessly with the man-made structures. Works informed by this geographical location cause the viewer to ponder the symbiosis between industrialization and nature or reason and irrationality, whose spacertwined entities seem to remain inexplicably entangled in stillness and motion. While functioning as meditations on the brevity of human existence, these works also invoke awareness of the continuum of time.
